” Phleng chāt Thai “ (The Thai National Anthem) is the title of Thailand’s national anthem,
which was adopted in its current form on 10 December 1939.
” Phleng chāt Thai ” replaced “Sansoen Phra Barami” in 1932, which remains as the royal anthem of Thailand.
Phleng chāt, literally meaning “national anthem”, is a general term for a national anthem. The term is also used to refer to this specific song.
When Siam was renamed Thailand in 1939, the government launched a competition to replace the original text. The winner was Luang Saranupraphan (1896-1954), one of the most important Thai writers of his time. The music of the Thai anthem was composed by Phra Chenduriyang (Peter Feit).
According to the 1939 decree of the nationalist Phibunsongkhram government, which is still in force today, the Thai national anthem is played every day at 8:00 and 18:00 on Thai television and radio programs. The same is true in public buildings and parks, where people usually get up from their seats or, if they are walking, stop.
Not stopping while the national anthem is being played is an administrative offense and can be punished with a fine.

Siamese land is renowned as the land of gold.
The Thais have conquered this beautiful land.
The Thai people have served it ever since the Ancient times.

And hitherto we have kept Siam alive.
